In celebration of Earth Day, John Audubon’s birthday, and Arbor Day, children that check out at least one book on plant life and/or the plant cycle will be able to plant their own vegetable plant to take home and watch the plant cycle happen throughout the summer!
All materials provided.
Earth Day educates us about what we have and what we are losing by acting in ways that aren’t environmentally friendly or energy efficient. Arbor Day is an annual observance that celebrates the role of trees in our lives and promotes tree planting and care. John Audubon’s birthday is celebrated due to his extensive studies documenting all types of American birds, 25 new species, and for his detailed illustrations that depicted the birds in their natural habitats. These three holidays are important and shine light on how important our environment truly is.
Be sure to drop in the Maiden Branch Library throughout the week of April 22-28th to celebrate Earth Week and research these important issues.
